STERLING, Mass. — Authorities are asking for the public’s help after they found a beaver tail nailed to a tree last week.
Sterling Animal Control says the incident occurred near Stuart Pond and they became aware of it on April 27. Officials aren’t sure whether the animal was illegally trapped and stuck there or if the tail came from a road kill accident.
Similarly, the body of the animal has not been located and there are no known suspects.
Although investigators confirm the tail is real, they say it may have been hanging on the tree for upwards of two weeks.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call Sterling Animal Control.
Massachusetts Environmental Police are also assisting with the investigation.
