Crews pull two pooches from pond in Douglas

DOUGLAS, Mass. — Two dogs found themselves in a precarious situation after falling through the ice in a Douglas pond Monday afternoon.

The Douglas Fire Department says the two pooches escaped from their enclosure and fell into the appropriately named Bad Luck Pond.

Fire crews responded quickly and rescued the pups before long.

Officials are reminding dog owners to keep their furry friends away from frozen bodies of water this time of year, if possible, and to make sure they are always leashed.
