Tom Brady acquires ownership interest in WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces

LAS VEGAS, Nev — Tom Brady’s post-football life will take him from the huddle to the owner’s box.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion and three-time NFL MVP has acquired an ownership stake in the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, majority owner Mark Davis announced Thursday.

Davis, who also owns the NFL’s Las Vegas Raiders, says Brady was first introduced to the team during a May 2022 game against the Connecticut Sun - the same team the Aces would topple on their way to the team’s first WNBA championship later that season.

“Since I purchased the Aces, our goal has been to win on and off the court,” said Davis in a statement. “Tom Brady is a win not only for the Aces, and the WNBA, but for women’s professional sports as a whole.”

Brady who was raised in a competitive household with three sisters, says he has always admired women’s sports.

“I am very excited to be part of the Las Vegas Aces organization,” said Brady. “My love for women’s sports began at a young age when I would tag along to all my older sisters’ games—They were by far the best athletes in our house! We celebrated their accomplishments together as a family, and they remain a great inspiration to me.

“I have always been a huge fan of women’s sports, and I admire the work that the Aces’ players, staff, and the WNBA continue to do to grow the sport and empower future generations of athletes. To be able to contribute in any way to that mission as a member of the Aces organization is an incredible honor.”

Brady sent Aces star Kelsey Plum a signed jersey in July after watching during the aforementioned game against the Sun.

Plum said wanted to make an impression on her favorite athlete.

So she barked at him.

The Aces are set to begin their sixth season in the Sin City after relocating and rebranding from the San Antonio Stars in 2018.

Brady announced his (2nd) retirement earlier this year, closing the door on the most decorated career in NFL history.

Brady’s purchase of a partial ownership stake is subject to WNBA approval.
