Authorities locate vehicle of interest after deadly pedestrian hit-and-run crash near Mass & Cass

BOSTON — Authorities have located a vehicle of interest following a hit-and-run crash that killed a man in the South End on Friday night, the district attorney’s office announced Sunday.

Around 10:35 p.m. Friday, a vehicle struck and killed a 73-year-old man who was walking and pushing a wheelchair at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office. Police said the suspect vehicle fled in an unknown direction.

The victim was pronounced dead a short time later. His name has not been released at this time.

Dashcam video sent to Boston 25 News appears to show the vehicle collide with the wheelchair-bound person as it drove through an intersection.

An investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 911.
