Stormy Saturday: Here’s what to expect in your area with wintry mix, rain, wind on tap

BOSTON — Bay Staters are in store for a stormy Saturday with light snow, sleet, ice, rain, and wind in the forecast.

Saturday will start off dry, but rain will start falling in the Boston area by lunchtime. Point inlands, north and west of Boston, will likely see light snow or a brief wintry mix before a changeover to plain rain.

“Towns and cities north and west of I-495 may turn slippery, especially at elevations, and north of Route 2,” Shiri Spear wrote in her latest weather blog.

Showers will eventually become scattered and taper off overnight.

The wind will also pick up throughout the day Saturday, and Sunday will remain gusty, but damage isn’t expected.

Temperatures will climb into the 50s on Sunday, but sustained winds of 15-20 mph and gusts of 30-35 mph could impact outdoor plans.
