Say it ain’t snow! Flakes fly in New England town on first official day of fall

WARREN, Vt. — Snowflakes were flying in one New England town on the first official day of fall, a sure sign that winter is coming in just three months time.

The popular ski resort Sugarbush in Warren, Vermont, shared a video of snow falling at Lincoln Peak Summit with a caption that read, “First flakes of fall.”

Autumn officially began at 9:03 p.m. Thursday. Fortunately for those who love apple picking, pumpkin spice, and all things Halloween, the first day of winter doesn’t arrive until Wednesday, Dec. 21.

In Massachusetts, residents woke up to 40-degree temperatures on Friday morning. Afternoon highs were only expected to climb into the 50s.

Sunshine will warm the region back to the 60s over the weekend.
