Renowned Massachusetts Corn Maze reopens for the season following ‘suspicious’ summer fire

Massachusetts has a nationally recognized corn maze.

USA Today ranks Davis Mega Maze in Sterling, Massachusetts as one of the country’s top ten.

It comes four months after a fire took out part of the maze.

Getting from Point A to Point B in the Davis Mega Maze keeps the kids coming back year after year.

“The maze was very confusing, there were a lot of twists and turns,” says Dylan Catreau, a maze participant.

Davis Mega Maze co-owner Larry Davis says hard work goes into making the maze a challenge so his heart dropped when he saw it partially go up in flames from his home in June just as preparations were underway for the fall opening.

“It was kind of tough. It just affected everything,” says Larry Davis, co-owner of Davis Mega Maze.

It’s believed the fire started at the bottom of a slide and shot all the way up and exploded out into the field, which burned part of the maze.

“Certain structures had to be rebuilt and things like that,” says Davis.

Four months later the maze is bigger and better than before.

“It feels nice, it’s definitely recovered a lot,” says Catreau.

“It all pulled together,” says Davis.

Although the fire was considered suspicious, it’s cause is still under investigation.
