Police searching for two men accused of carjacking Lyft driver in the Seaport

BOSTON — State police are searching for two men who they say carjacked a Lyft driver, possibly at gunpoint, in the Seaport District Wednesday.

According to State police, the two men requested a Lyft ride from Dorchester to the WB Mason store on Summer Street around 4:30 p.m. When the driver was approaching that location, near Summer Street and Pappas Way, the pair confronted the driver and told him they planned to take his car, a gray 2018 Nissan Altima, State police said.

The two men then “confronted” the driver, according to a State police news release, and while the driver fought off one of the men, the other got in the Altima and started to drive away. The second suspect then allegedly hopped in the car and the two sped off. Police said they believe one of the suspects “pressed a handgun” against the Lyft driver.

It’s unclear if the Lyft driver, a 44-year old man from Weymouth, was injured.

Investigators released two surveillance images of the suspects and are asking anyone who recognizes them or who may have seen them Wednesday afternoon to call State police at 617-568-7300.
