Police investigating after ATM outside Concord bank ripped open using truck

CONCORD, Mass. — Police are asking for public help identifying a group of suspects that ripped open an ATM outside of a bank in downtown Concord early Thursday morning.

According to Concord Police, officers received an alarm from the bank on Main Street at 3:14 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the front panel of the outside ATM torn off, exposing the wiring of the machine. No money was taken.

Video from the scene showed yellow police tape around a mangled ATM that had been smashed into pieces.

While officers in Concord investigated the scene, a Maynard police officer noticed two vehicles, a black GMC pickup truck and a black Dodge Challenger, traveling closely together on an otherwise unoccupied road. According to police, the same two vehicles were seen driving toward Concord about an hour earlier.

The two vehicles eventually split, prompting a brief but unsuccessful high-speed chase.

Police have released surveillance video from the bank, which shows at least three suspects attempting to rip the ATM from its moorings by pulling it off with the truck.
