Police investigating after hit & run in East Boston

BOSTON — One person has been taken to the hospital after being struck by a car in East Boston early Friday morning, officials said.

Emergency crews responded to reports of a crash on Bennington Street right around midnight and located an adult male victim suffering from life-threatening injuries in the roadway.

“It was going about 20 to 25 miles an hour,” said a man who witnessed the accident and asked not to be identified.

The victim was rushed to an area hospital. There was no immediate word on their condition.

According to police, the vehicle fled the scene following the crash.

“I just heard a bang. I heard a big bang and I turned my head and there was a guy on the floor laying on the floor,” a witness tells Boston 25 News.

Police are still looking for the driver of the vehicle. They ask anyone with any information to please give them a call.
