HANSON, Mass. — A commuter rail train caught fire Friday afternoon, causing significant commuter delays.
Hanson fire officials say the fire was contained to the engine department.
“Fire crews quickly found and isolated a piece of electrical equipment that had caught fire.”
The disabled train was evacuated as a precaution, according to officials.
Fire crews were able to remove the electrical equipment that caught fire. “No water or extinguishing agents needed to be used to mitigate the situation,” according to officials.
No one was injured.
As a result of the fire, some Kingston Line Trains were cancelled.
Kingston Line Train 062 (8:12 pm from Kingston) is cancelled today due to earlier fire department activity. The next inbound will be Train 064 (10:22 pm from Kingston).
