Patriots to begin preparations for game in Buffalo as Bills safety remains hospitalized

FOXBORO, Mass. — Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin remains in a hospital, still sedated and on a ventilator. But now, teams are resuming practice, getting ready for the final week of the NFL season.

Players will be back on the practice field today in Foxboro. After cancelling interviews yesterday, we’re expecting to hear from the team later this afternoon. The NFL says the plan is to play games as scheduled this weekend, including the pats playing in Buffalo in game that will determine if they make the playoffs.

But the main focus continues to be on the health of Damar Hamlin. Last night his uncle said in an interview that the 24-year-old’s health is trending in the right direction.

Hamlin is still on a ventilator, but doctors have been able to reduce the amount of oxygen is being given. He’s also been flipped on to his stomach to take pressure off his lungs. His uncle says he was in disbelief watching everything unfold since he says Hamlin is a healthy young man who never had any issues.

“Just to know like my nephew basically died on the field and they brought him back to life, it’s just heartbreaking and to see all those grown men crying and all the emotion, it was really a gut punch,” said Dorrian Glenn, Hamlin’s uncle. “I just want to show my gratitude to the medical staff that were on hand because if not for them my nephew probably wouldn’t even be here.

Glenn says it’s also the prayers that is helping his family right now. Players from around the league, including several patriots like Mac Jones and Jonnu Smith, have expressed their thoughts on social media.

The Bills game against the Bengals that was postponed Monday night won’t be played this week - and it’s unclear if it will be made up at all. You can imagine it’ll be a difficult week as they prepare for this game against the Patriots.
