Oh my gourd! Mass. man’s gigantic pumpkin breaks Topsfield Fair record

TOPSFIELD, Mass. — A Massachusetts man’s gigantic gourd became the largest pumpkin to ever compete in the Topsfield Fair’s annual weigh-off competition.

Jamie Graham, of Tyngsboro, shattered the record at Friday’s New England Giant Pumpkin Growers Contest with a pumpkin that topped the scales at 2,480 pounds, according to the Fair’s general manager Jim O’Brien.

The previous record was was 2,294.5 pounds, set by Alex Noel, of Abington, Connecticut. Noel also placed second in the 2022 competition, with a pumpkin weighing 2,234 pounds.

In 2019, a pumpkin weighing 2,114 pounds, grown by Ron Wallace of Greene, Rhode Island, set the previous Fair record.
