Wellesley jeweler making special bracelets to support Ukraine

WELLESLEY, Mass. — April Soderstrom is as busy as ever inside her Wellesley jewelry studio . “I want to make so many bracelets my fingers hurt and so many people posted and shared it we’re getting there. My fingers are tired,” she said.

Soderstrom owns her own jewelry business and is making special, handmade yellow and blue bracelets. She calls them “To Ukraine With Love. " The bracelets are in the color of the Ukrainian flag to help support the Ukrainian people. Soderstrom started making the bracelets in early March and donated 100 percent of the proceeds from her bracelets to Sunflower of Peace. The Boston-based charity provides medical and humanitarian aid to Ukraine. In less than two weeks, April was able to donate 50 thousand dollars. “The whole idea was put up a bracelet and sell 50 or so and to try and help and it went through the roof quickly. We are selling and making so many bracelets and it’s been so much fun,” she said.

Soderstrom, who’s a working mom of two young children, says she wants to make the bracelets as long as she can and will continue donating 50-percent from each sale to Sunflower of Peace. Her motto is simple: wear it, share it and help support those in need. “It’s more than just a look good bracelet. It’s nice to look down at your wrist and know it looks cool, but it also has meaning and purpose behind it,” she said.

The bracelets are $38 and are so popular, Soderstrom says she is on track to soon donate another $25 thousand to the Sunflower of Peace charity.
