The clash of the holidays

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Walk into Seasonal Specialty Stores in Foxborough and boom — it’s Christmas. President and owner Elise Lombardi says people started getting their Christmas on earlier during the pandemic. “Just kind of getting that cozy feeling a little earlier is really what I heard from customers and also it made them happy,” said Lombardi, “I can decorate the house and that can makes me happy so we find them doing it a little earlier because it makes them happy.”

Nino Lambert gave us a sneak peek inside where the wreath decorating will soon deck these halls. “We kind of have to deal with Thanksgiving and Christmas at the same time. We’ll be decorating wreaths next week during Thanksgiving,” said Lambert.

As you can imagine inflation is going to touch every aspect of the holidays from your Thanksgiving dinner, to decorating your house to what your plans are on New Years Eve. Janet Killarney was shopping for at Lambert’s Market in Westwood. “It is a hit though man. You know even stuff like today. What I used to get for 25 was almost like 40. Discouraging,” said Killarney.

Paul McDermott, the owner of West Corner Farm & Garden in Randolph, says people may also notice some trees not lasting as long because of the hot, dry summer.  “A drier summer is not your friend. The more water content your tree has the longer it will last,” said McDermott.
