HOOKSETT, Mass. — A New Hampshire State Trooper and passenger were injured when a pickup truck slammed into a cruiser on I-93 in Hooksett.
Police said a state trooper pulled over to help Joyce Walton, 76, of Manchester who was involved in a single-vehicle crash on Wednesday night just before 8 p.m.
Walton was sitting in the back of the trooper’s car, trying to stay warm, when a Ford pick-up truck hit the cruiser from behind, significantly damaging the back. Both the trooper and Walton were transported to a hospital for injuries sustained during the accident.
Micheal Pavletich, 22, of Amherst, the operator of the Ford was arrested for suspicions of driving under the influence. He was transported to a hospital but refused medical attention, according to police.
A preliminary investigation indicates that driving under the influence was a factor of the crash.
The cruiser was occupied by a trooper seated in the front drivers seat & a passenger that was seated in the backseat. At this time, Hooksett Road at Alice Avenue & the exit 9S off-ramp of I-93 southbound remain closed. Further information will be released as it becomes available. pic.twitter.com/hdS4ZdqdMS
