‘Might have been a fumble’ - Tom Brady on notorious ‘tuck rule game’ against the Raiders

From Tuck Rule to Tik Tok.

Tom Brady is giving new breath to years of debate over the infamous “tuck rule game” between the New England Patriots and the Oakland Raiders.

Many football fans credit that game with launching the incredible run of postseason victories and Super Bowls for the former Patriots QB and the Patriots.

The debate over a ruling in the 4th quarter of that snowy January game in 2002 has raged since. The question: was it really an incomplete pass as decided on the field, or a fumble, as the Raiders and their fans believed? The play led to an eventual overtime win for the Pats.

In a video posted to Tik Tok on Thursday, Brady added fuel to the debate fire, by responding to a trend request from superstar Justin Bieber to “tell me something honest.”

Brady responded while appearing to make sure no one was listening that “The tuck rule game against the Raiders - might have been a fumble.”

Here’s the play in question from 2002. You be the judge.

Brady has always tried to defend the ruling. Sometimes, not so well. Like when he was trying to promote an ESPN 30 for 30 about that game.

The milestone win for the Patriots hit its 20th anniversary this past January.
