‘Experience Camps’ help kids who dealt with loss during the pandemic

Mass. — The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic is often calculated in the number of those who died, but new studies are looking at the number of those it left behind.

According to the CDC, more than 250,000 American children have lost a parent or caregiver due to the pandemic as of May 1, 2022

Many of the children who are left without parents come from New England.

This summer, some of the children will head to Maine, where experience camps will attend to the hearts of grieving kids.

Sara Deren, is the founder and CEO of ‘Experience Camps’ for grieving children, joined Boston 25 New to talk about these camps and what they mean to kids.
