Emotional plea to bring a Massachusetts woman home after she was badly hurt in crash in Nebraska

BOSTON — The family of a Boston woman has a plea for help. They say she was badly hurt in a crash while driving across the country. She’s still in the hospital in Nebraska.

Tatyana Tudor took a road trip with her best friend to help him move from Boston to California when the journey took a life-changing turn.

“We really are unsure of what happened. There was another vehicle then the car started tumbling on the highway then my daughter was ejected, and her lower extremities got run over by a semi-truck,” says Margo Abouzeid, the victim’s mother.

26-year-old Tatyana Tudor is fighting for her life in a Nebraska hospital after the Boston native suffered severe injuries in a car crash on Route 80 Sunday. Her mother Margo Abouzeid rushed to be by her side.

“Just imagine walking in and seeing your child bandaged up and not being able to open their eyes. You can’t even recognize them it is the worst thing,” says Abouzeid.

Abouzeid says her daughter had to have her right leg amputated and says she still needs about 20 more surgeries.

“She has no skin like there is no skin left and they can’t do any skin grafts. I mean Boston is where she needs to be, that is what Boston is for. That is home,” says Abouzeid.

For now, Tatyana remains in Nebraska until Margo says the family can financially bring her back to Boston where doctors say she can get consistent care.

“The orthopedic surgeon told me that the best outcome for her would be to be in Massachusetts with the Boston doctor that will put her together basically he is like ‘I did the Band-Aid, I did the best I could now the person that is going to be finishing her needs to orchestrate it the way that he needs and wants,’ " says Abouzeid.

When Tatyana does begin the road to recovery, her mother says the journey won’t ever be the same.

“Someone that loves to walk her dog and someone who likes to go outdoors. It is going to be very hard. She lost her right leg. She can’t drive and go on little trips. Lot of things she is not going to be able to do and it is going to be hard,” says Abouzeid.

Abouzeid tells Boston 25 she isn’t getting much information from police about the investigation and whether anyone will face charges in her daughter’s accident. We contacted the Hall County Sheriff’s Office in Nebraska but were told the person we needed to speak with was gone for the day.
