Blue Line suspension between Wonderland and Orient Heights begins

BOSTON — The suspension of rail service on the Blue Line between Wonderland and Orient Heights started Sunday to allow for work on the Suffolk Downs pedestrian bridge.

Free shuttle buses are replacing trains between those stations.

The project to repair and reopen the bridge needs to be finished before the Sumner Tunnel Restoration project begins June 10, the MBTA said. The bridge is expected to fully reopen later this summer.

Rail service will be suspended until June 8.

Shuttle buses are also replacing trains on the Rockport and Newburyport Commuter Rail lines between Orient Heights and Rockport and Beverly.
