Alleged dirt bike and ATV gang members arrested

WALPOLE, Mass. — Several men part of a dirt bike and ATV gang were taken into custody Sunday evening after a sting operation.

FOX25 was there as the suspects were taken into the Walpole Police Department to be booked. Investigators said they are a part of the Boston Bike Life, a national organization with a chapter based in Boston.

“They're up and down the streets on four wheelers and motorcycles,” said Walpole Police Chief John Carmichael.

Investigators say the men were part of roving gangs of dirt bike and ATV riders that have been terrorizing neighborhoods. They’ve been practicing in Walpole for the last 3 months on Renmar Avenue.

“[They are] extremely dangerous. First of all, some of them are not wearing helmets. Not registered, not insured,” said Carmichael.

Neighbors have been complaining about the noise and racing for years now. Police say their alleged crimes threatens safety on local streets.

They've been charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct. Four men were held in jail Sunday night.
